Bob Hynd

Founding Partner, Architectural Technologist, Planning Guru

Bob is a founding partner of Leadingham Jameson Rogers + Hynd (LJR+H), established in 2005 following the merger of Reid and Greig Architects with LJR+H. With a deep expertise in planning legislation, Bob has played a crucial role in delivering a range of housing developments across Dundee, Perth, Angus, and further afield shaping communities with his strategic approach and attention to detail.

Beyond the practice, Bob serves as a Director at Dundee Football Club, where he combines his lifelong passion for the Dark Blues with his architectural insight. In this role, he has been instrumental in driving forward the club’s development plans, including the ambitious Camperdown project, which is set to transform the club’s future.

Bob’s commitment to both his profession and his community highlights his dedication to creating meaningful and impactful developments that serve both practical and aspirational goals.

Mark O'Connor
BSc Arch, BArch(hons) 
RIAS. ARB

Partner, Architect, Passive House Designer. Energy Assessor

Mark has been a partner at LJR+H since 2015, combining his expertise in architecture with teaching roles at the Dundee School of Architecture and the Department of Civil Engineering. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with several prestigious practices, including contributing to the acclaimed Maggie's Centre in Dundee.

At LJR+H, Mark's collaboration with Graeme Hutton of the University of Dundee has earned national recognition, including RIBA and Scottish Design Awards for standout projects such as Drummond House in Meigle and the Zinc-House. As a certified Passive House Designer and Energy Advisor, Mark brings a strong focus on sustainability to his work.

Mark has also played a key role in high-profile initiatives, including the new stadium at Camperdown and the Community and Training Hub for Dundee Football Club, delivering innovative, community-driven designs.

Beyond architecture, Mark is a certified diving instructor, an avid drone enthusiast, and actively supports local charities, including seal rescue efforts.

Liam Mckelvie 
BArch Hons. MArch. RIAS. ARB

Associate Architect

Liam graduated from the Dundee School of Architecture in 2017 with a Master’s in Architecture (MArch) and joined the LJR+H team soon after. He has a strong passion for bespoke new-build housing and extensive experience working with historical and listed buildings, showcasing a meticulous eye for detail.

Liam has contributed to notable projects such as the new stadium at Camperdown and the Community and Training Hub at Riverside for Dundee Football Club, delivering innovative and community-focused designs.

Outside of work, he is a dedicated supporter of Dundee Football Club and actively volunteers with Fans Supporting Foodbanks Dundee. A keen golfer, he enjoys playing at Scotscraig and other courses. Liam also serves as a director of the Tayside Health and Arts Trust (THAT), highlighting his commitment to local causes.

Recently, Liam welcomed his son Leo, embracing fatherhood while continuing to balance his professional and community roles with enthusiasm.

Julija Poligalova
BArch. MArch. RIAS. ARB

Associate Architect

Julija graduated from the Dundee School of Architecture in 2017 with a Master’s in Architecture (MArch). Throughout her studies, she gained hands-on experience working in a small architectural practice. Balancing work and academics did not stop her from being recognised as the ‘Student of the Year’ in her final year. Shortly after completing her degree, Julija joined LJR+H.

With a keen eye for architectural detail and a passion for creating bespoke designs, Julija excels in tackling challenging sites, including those with prior planning rejections, turning the seemingly impossible into reality.

Outside the office, Julija brings her creativity into every aspect of her life, from inventing new games for her four-year-old son and planning family outings to taking on new DIY projects in her house.

Samuel Ho
BArch. MArch.

Part II Architectural Assistant

CPD Coordinator

Samuel graduated from the Dundee School of Architecture in 2020 with a Master’s in Architecture (MArch) and joined LJR+H in 2021, bringing valuable experience from another local firm. He is particularly interested in the integration of emerging technologies within architectural practice, including the transformative potential of AI in design.

Samuel is also passionate about architectural visualization, continually enhancing his skills to improve the presentation and communication of design concepts.

Committed to professional development, Samuel organises the office CPD programs to stay at the forefront of industry trends and technological advancements.

Outside the office, Samuel enjoys running and hiking, often concluding his adventures with a visit to the pub, weather permitting. His dedication to innovation and continuous learning, paired with his active lifestyle, reflects a well-rounded approach that benefits both his professional and personal growth.

Varina Day

Office Manager, Secretary

Varina is the longest-serving member of LJR+H, providing invaluable support in managing all administrative operations to ensure the seamless functioning of the office. Her organisational expertise plays a key role in maintaining efficiency, including coordinating schedules and ensuring Bob is always prepared for his commitments.

Outside of work, Varina cherishes time with her family, particularly her two grandchildren, and finds joy in creating lasting memories with them. Her dedication and warmth are integral to both the professional and personal spheres of her life, reflecting her commitment to excellence and family values.

Angus

Head of Security

Angus is our loyal springer spaniel and the Head of Security at our architecture firm. With his sharp senses and protective nature, Angus takes his role seriously, keeping a watchful eye on everyone who enters the office. His alert barks let us know when someone new arrives, ensuring that our team is always aware of what’s happening around us.

 

Despite his tough exterior, Angus is also incredibly friendly and loves to get belly rubs from our visitors once they’ve passed his inspection. When he's off duty, Angus enjoys long walks, and napping under bob's desk. He’s a dedicated member of our team, always ready to safeguard our space with a wagging tail.

Blair

Head of Public Relations

Blair is our beloved cocker spaniel and the Head of Public Relations at LJR+H. With his friendly demeanour and wagging tail, Blair is always ready to greet visitors and bring a smile to everyone’s face. he excels at making clients feel welcome and has a special talent for boosting team morale.

 

When he’s not busy spreading joy around the office, Blair loves exploring the outdoors with bob. he's a valued member of our team, always reminding us of the importance of warmth and approachability in everything we do.
